The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) is a long-term visa introduced in July 2024,
designed for individuals who wish to stay in Thailand for extended periods while working remotely
or participating in long-term activities.

The DTV is classified as a tourist-type visa. It does not provide a Thai work permit
and does not allow employment with Thai companies, adoption procedures, or applications for
permanent residency. However, it offers significantly more flexibility than standard tourist visas.

The visa is valid for up to five years and includes multiple-entry privileges.
Each time the visa holder enters Thailand, a stay of up to 180 days is granted.
This stay may be extended once for an additional 180 days before leaving and re-entering Thailand.

The DTV is intended for several types of applicants, including:

  • Remote workers, digital nomads, and freelancers working for clients or employers outside Thailand
  • Individuals participating in long-term cultural, professional, or training activities
  • Dependents of a DTV holder, including spouse and children

Applicants must meet standard immigration requirements, including age criteria and proof of
sufficient financial means. Dependents must provide documents proving their relationship to the
main visa holder.

Applications for the DTV must be submitted outside Thailand, either through a Thai
embassy or consulate or via Thailand’s official e-Visa system, where available. Documentation
requirements vary depending on the applicant’s profile.

The DTV allows visa holders to travel in and out of Thailand freely without the need for a
re-entry permit, making it a practical option for long-term visitors seeking flexibility.
