The Thailand SMART Visa is a specialized long-term visa designed to attract
high-level professionals, investors, executives, entrepreneurs, and startup founders working
in industries that support Thailand’s economic growth.
Unlike standard Thai work visas, the SMART Visa allows holders to live and work in Thailand
without a separate work permit, provided their activities fall within approved sectors.
Depending on the category, the SMART Visa can be issued for up to four years. It also
removes the 90-day reporting requirement and allows multiple entries without re-entry permits.
Applicants must qualify under one of the following categories:
- Talent (T): Skilled professionals in targeted industries
- Investor (I): Investors in qualifying Thai businesses
- Executive (E): Senior management professionals
- Startup (S): Entrepreneurs involved in approved startup programs
SMART Visa holders may bring their spouse and children as dependents, subject to meeting
the required conditions, including health insurance coverage.
The application process includes a qualification endorsement through Thailand’s SMART Visa
system, followed by visa issuance at a Thai embassy, consulate, or designated visa center in Thailand.
